Our tour guide of this Hanoi war sites walking tour will welcome you at your hotel then start the walking tour to discover the history of Vietnam’s modern wars. Military History Museum (apply on Tue, Wed, Thu, Sat, and Sun) is located on Dien Bien Phu street. The museum covers the American and French wars, as well as the struggles against the Chinese. In addition to numerous photos and remnants from the wars, the grounds are jam-packed with tanks, guns, and aircraft. |

Hoa Lo Prison. | Hoa Lo Prison, sometimes known as the "Hanoi Hilton," served as a jail for French and American prisoners of war as well as political detainees from Vietnam. It provides an interesting and unsettling look into prison life. In order to make way for the serviced apartment and office complex Hanoi Towers (now Somerset Grand Hanoi), the majority of the original prison was destroyed in 1996. However, the southernmost corner has been preserved and reopened to the public as a memorial to the revolutionaries who died here in appalling conditions. Together with a variety of trilingual (Vietnamese, English, and French) exhibits depicting the horrors of life in jail during the French colonial period, visitors can see the original cells, replete with leg irons. |
